Situated in the Colombian Caribbean Coast is the town of Rincón del Mar, a small fishing village with a very close-knit community.  The town was founded by runaway slaves who chose that area because of its remoteness. The community of Rincón del Mar maintains traditions alive that date back 500 years.  Twelve children between the ages of 12-14 attended the 5-week self-portrait workshop. The project is known as Mi Rincón and was made possible by the Prince Claus Foundation.  The children’s films not only capture their interests and feelings, but also portray beautifully the daily life of the community and their own local traditions: dance, cockfights, fishing and planting among others.
